Owner and Coach Tom Murphy has been a CrossFitter since 2012 and specializes in nutrition. With a unique blend of experience as a competitive martial artist, combined with having Type 1 Diabetes, he knows the importance of fitness in creating a healthy lifestyle. "I love proving people wrong," he says. "Nothing gives me more of a buzz than seeing someone do something they said they never would when they first came to the gym."
Tom's passion for helping people reach their potential is clear early when a new athlete meets him. "I've said this many times, and it often come up at the start of our Foundation course," he says. "In the absence of bills, the need for food, and a roof over my head.. .I would do this job for free." This passion stems from his early life. He says he was never the sporty kid in class, but when he finally found that CrossFit filled the fitness gap in his life perfectly, he knew it was meant to be. "It wasn't a gym as I knew it. It was a collective, a community of supportive and like-minded people... I was hooked."
When Tom isn't training, he might be found traveling with his girlfriend Imogen or reading his favorite book, The CrossFit Level 1 Manual. (Joking aside, his favorite read lately was "Ego is the Enemy" by Ryan Holiday.)
