Membership Hold Request

Putting Your Membership on Hold

Sometimes training genuinely isn’t possible for a while, and when that’s the case, a hold is here so you’re not paying for time you can’t use and your spot is waiting when you get back.

Before you pause though, it’s worth a quick word with us, because the thing that’s making you consider it is often something we can work around. If you’re carrying an injury, we can almost always scale the training so you keep moving and stay part of the group, and coming in usually does you far more good than disappearing. If life or work has got busy, that’s normally exactly the point where your training matters most, and even turning up a little less often beats stopping altogether. We’d genuinely rather help you find a way to keep going than watch you pause and go cold.

Where a hold really is the right call is when you’re away for an extended stretch, in the later stages of pregnancy, or dealing with an illness or injury we honestly can’t train around. If that’s you, we’ll make it simple. Here’s exactly how it works.

How long you can pause

A hold runs for a minimum of three weeks and up to eight weeks in total across the calendar year. You can take that as one longer break or split it into two shorter ones. Pregnancy holds are agreed separately. If you’re going to be away for longer than eight weeks, just get in touch and we’ll work something sensible out with you.

When to let us know

Please submit your hold request at least seven days before your next payment date. That gives us time to action it before billing runs on the 1st. Your hold starts on the date you give on the form and can’t be backdated.

What happens to your payments

Nothing is taken while your membership is on hold. Payments stop for the length of the pause and start again automatically on your return date, so there’s nothing to remember to switch back on. A £5 admin fee applies to each hold, and is waived for pregnancy holds.

A couple of things worth knowing

Holds are available to members with an up-to-date payment history. Memberships can’t be paused during periods when the gym is already closed, such as holidays, events or maintenance, since there’s no training being missed. If you decide to cancel while on hold, your membership comes off hold first and the usual 30 days’ notice then applies.
